Transport Mutual Credit Union was originally established in 1964, as Main Roads Staff Credit Union. The purpose of the Credit Union was to support the financial needs of staff of the NSW Department of Main Roads and their families. In 1989 the Credit Union changed its name to RTA Staff Credit Union, when the NSW State Government formed the Roads and Traffic Authority. After the Roads and Traffic Authority became Roads & Maritime Services in 2011, the Credit Union Members voted at the 2012 Annual General Meeting to change their Credit Union’s name to Transport Mutual Credit Union. The new name reflects a more inclusive approach to future business growth, giving the Credit Union the ability to appeal to potential Members within the broader transport industry, and avoids the need for further name changes resulting from Government changes in the transport sector.

Since those early days in 1964 the Credit Union has grown substantially, to now offer a wide range of financial products and services to its Members. We still maintain very close ties with our core membership – staff, business partners and contractors from Roads & Maritime Services and the wider Transport for NSW family including Service NSW, RailCorp, Sydney Buses and Sydney Ferries. We now also welcome Members from all other employment backgrounds and communities including those employed in the private transport sector.

The Directors, Management and Staff are committed to the Credit Union, its Core Values and Mission Statement, and above all, its Members. If you are an existing member, we would like to thank you for your continuing support of the Credit Union. If you are not, what are you waiting for?
